Our graduates work in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific, as well as professional dive centers close to home. They train divers, crew live aboard dive vessels and run their own dive businesses. Our students rely on us to provide the skills needed to be a professional dive educator and the additional knowledge employers seek.
Each training session takes place under the watchful eye of your instructor. Our small classes (no more than ten students each) guarantee individual attention few other schools can offer.
Make no mistake: The curriculum is intense. Very intense. You will be challenged daily on your knowledge. skills — and your desire to succeed. You will learn to deal with stresses that real dive educators face and how to act in emergency situations. And, you can count on making many, many dives. So get your gear ready!
Phase One – For diver with basic certifications, any agency
Six days (Monday through Saturday) 60 hours. This is where you’ll learn the fundamental skills all divers need. Your training includes Advanced Scuba Diver, Nitrox Diver and Master Scuba Diver. This is a very intensive week of diving, no less than 14 dives. We’ll develop your core skills that will be the building blocks for your instructor training.
Phase Two – For divers with Advanced certification and Master (or equivalent),
any agency.
Five Days (Monday through Friday) 55 hours. Now that you have the fundamentals we train you in two very important areas, advanced dive rescue and diving leadership.
ARREST PROGRAM (Advanced Response and Rescue Training) – This program is designed to equip you with the skills to respond to a diving related emergency. Sessions are broken into individual workshops where candidates can perfect their techniques and then are tested by real world scenarios they will manage. During this part of your training you will go through First Aid, CPR, DAN Oxygen Provider and hazardous marine life treatment.
ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR –The NAUI Assistant Instructor rating is a NAUI leadership-level certification. The program is designed to introduce students to diving instruction basics. It also tests individuals in fundamental water skills needed to be capable assistants. Certification authorizes individuals to assist active-status NAUI Instructors in the conduct of dive training. NAUI Assistant Instructor certification is a highly recommended step in the progression to NAUI Instructor.
Phase Three – For divers with Assistant Instructor or Dive Master rating with NAUI. Other agency Dive Masters or Assistant Instructors may participate in the Prep Program (runs inconjuction with Assistant Instructor program).
The next phase will teach you the valuable leadership skills of a Professional Instructor. You will be exposed to guiding and supervising divers both in training and onboard a dive vessel.
In addition, you will gain experience in resort operations including fill station, compressors and basic sales. The final phase of your program is the Instructor Training Course. You will learn the methods of instruction how to design a training curriculum that is adaptive to the needs of your clients. You will master teaching both academics and the skills portion of any NAUI program.
Our training is designed to give you the real-world experiences. Not only will it increase your confidence, but the confidence of your future employer too. We use the same methodology used to train commercial divers who work in the offshore industry. This training program prepares you to begin your career as a Professional Instructor.

Qualifications of Certified Graduates
- An active-status NAUI Instructor may independently teach NAUI sanctioned courses and authorize NAUI certifications for graduates.
- An active-status NAUI Instructor may independently conduct NAUI recognition and experience programs and authorize formal recognition for graduates.
- An active or sustaining-status NAUI Instructor is a voting
member of NAUI.
